*TWIST ON THE DRAW AND REHOLSTER!
The origin story of this product begins with me standing on the range checking emails between drills. I was asked by a customer if I offered a sheath for the Magnum sharpie because that is the one they use. I was wearing my original sharpie sheath and reached into my dump pouch to retrived my beat up magnum sharpie that I use for writing names on targets that can be visible from distance.
I did not make a sheath for the magnum..... until about five hours later. When that sheath was in the printer, I went on a sidequest and designed The Range Master.
Its just a fun product. Stealing the mounting pattern from some of my K9 gear, you can mount the sheath at varying degrees of 45. I wanted to make it as compact as possible, so I removed the tension screws. I used a combination of friction fit and a wiz-bang flexible epoxy to keep the caps in the sheath.
As fun as this item is to make, it is also more time consuming that you might think.... hence the price.
Most of my gear has a very practical application with some added style. But.... sometimes my gear is just fun and functional. Whether you're on the range marking targets, writing a door number on your arm or writing on a wall, all of us carry a sharpie somewhere on our kit. They can be clumsy to grab (I always drop my cap) and they are slow to put away. Like everything I make, this thing is wildly over engineered!
Our newest version of this piece of kit is 3D printed. This allows me to design the sheath in new, more reliable and functional ways. Like everyone, I have my reservations about 3D printed equipment. I have designed and printed this with durability in mind. Its probably overkill, but..... worth it.
I also flared the opening so it is easier to "Reholster."
I wore the original design for a while on my heavy vest and range vest. I found the draw awkward with the sharpie straight up and down when I carried the sheath on my right side.
So..... I designed and laser cut a mount out of 12 layer Tegris. You can adjust the cant of the sharpie 30 degrees either direction!
Comes with both sharpies and my lifetime warranty too. (The sheath, not the sharpie.)
Mounts:
Tegris- This is the standard mount. We laser cut them in house. It's designed to go on Molle and a belt.
Tek-Lok - This is an industry standard belt mount made by Bladetech.
