S-Fold Jig

All breachers experience the joys of winding shock tube into a S-fold that won't be a rats nest to unwind when you need it.  I designed this jig so we can wind shock tube to a consistent size to fit in an RDC rig or Single primed system, without holding hands with our buddy or lassoing our fingers.   The trick with this jig is to find a balance of winding shock tube tight enough to get a nice fold but not so tight that you can't unscrew one of the bolts in order to remove the fold.  It comes with a cap protector to manage the blasting cap during the fold.

We build this out of solid, heavy materials.  Breachers are hard on kits.  This is made form 1.5 inch thick marine grade starboard with grade 5 5/8 bolts.  The nuts a pressure fit and we hit them with some dry lube before they ship.  This makes spinning the bolts in and out a lot easier.  The heavy wight also makes coiling the shock tube easier.
