Motorola APX 7000 / 8000 Radio Pouch

The retention is a friction fit that snaps in over the battery.  I have worn this pouch on patrol for years, been in some nasty fights and it has never come out.  I have hundreds of these pouches across the nation and not one person has ever told me their radio has come out of their pouch.  There is no need for a retention strap with this pouch.  That said, I understand some departments have retention requirements and some people just want the added security of a retention strap. I have added an option for a strap.

If you wear your radio on your belt and have an external vest you have probably experienced your vest changing the channel on your radio when you sit.  I got sick of that happening with my heavy vest, so I developed a "button shield."  It is a piece of CNC cut Kydex that attaches between the mount and the radio pouch and extends up over the Knobs.  You have plenty of room to slide your radio in and to adjust the buttons, but the shield protects the knobs when you sit.  This is also available as an add-on.

* Battery size information.  The pouch comes set for retention on the larger 3400 aMh battery.  You can tighten the retention screws in order to secure the smaller 2150 aMh battery.  Your battery size is printed on the info sticker of your battery. The larger the battery (past 3400 aMh) the "Taller" the battery becomes.  I would recommend a retention strap for anything larger that the 3400 aMh*

* Button Shield:  The hight of the radio in the pouch varies depending on your particular battery size.  We attempt to place the button shield at the "most common" hight for the specific radio model.  However, if you find it to high or too short, We have made it so you can adjust it.   

*XE Cut w/ Retention:  This is for the XE line of APX radios.  They are typically used by firefighters / Search and rescue.  The radio has a rubber bumper that runs around the top and requires a lower cut.
