Sharpie Sheath
Sharpie Sheath
Most of my gear has a very practical application with some added style. But.... sometimes my gear is just fun and functional. Whether you're on the range marking targets, writing a door number on your arm or writing on a wall, all of us carry a sharpie somewhere on our kit. They can be clumsy to grab (I always drop my cap) and they are slow to put away. Like everything I make, this thing is wildly over engineered!
First, we press the Kydex over a mold I designed and machined. Then, we cut it with a CNC machine.
My first generation I used a flexible epoxy to glue the cap into the sheath. It worked well, but it was awkward to carry around a sharpie with no cap if you don't have your kit on. In my second generation I switched to a retractible sharpie. That seems to be a better way to go.
I also flared the opening so it is easier to "sheathe."
I wore the original design for a while on my heavy vest and range vest. I found the draw awkward with the sharpie straight up and down when I carried the sheath on my right side.
So..... I designed and laser cut a mount out of 12 layer Tegris. You can adjust the cant of the sharpie 30 degrees in either direction!
Comes with my lifetime warranty too. (The sheath, not the sharpie.)
(I'll get more pictures up soon. Life is busy.)
Mounts:
Tegris- This is the standard mount. We laser cut them in house. It's designed to go on MOLLE, but would work on a belt. It would have more movement on a belt though.
Tek-Lok - This is an industry standard belt mount made by Bladetech.
U-Clip - This is a very solid mount for your pocket. I use one for my key fob every day.
**** Bladetech and U-Clip are very proud of their mounts. The increase in the price is the cost of the mount. ****
